EVALUATION OF ORO-DISPERSIBLE TABLETS (ARTEMETHER- LUMEFANTRINE AND AMOXICILLIN TRIHYDRATE) USED FOR SOME COMMON CHILDHOOD DISEASES (MALARIA AND PHEUMONIA)

Background: Generic substitution of a brand medicine for others, with the hope that they have same therapeutic effect is difficult health care providers and consumers.
 Aim: This study was able to evaluate authenticity label claim eight samples artemether-lumefantrine two amoxicillin trihydrate tablets available at Ogige market Nsukka Ogbete main market, Enugu.
 Method: The following tests were carried out; hardness, friability, modified disintegration time, wetting water absorption ratio weight uniformity. compliance each sample United States Pharmacopoeia (USP) requirements recorded.
 Results: friability test showed all passed less than 1% loss. mean hardness ranged from 1.65±0.47 5.35±0.67 kgf tablets, while 4.00±0.93 6.10±0.91 respectively. tablet diameter thickness 9.00±1.53 11.00±1.0 mm 2.00±1.15 4.00±1.53 respectively, 8.00± 0.9 10.00±1.0mm 3.00±2.08 4.00±1.53mm time 1.50±0.1 3.52±0.01 min 2.06±0.02 3.30±0.03 discovered several generic brands in Nigeria could be sub-standard products.
